Forearm and wrist pain?

If you’ve been experiencing wrist and forearm pain and/or weakness, you’re not alone. Here’s a simple home care procedure that will help you.

In the modern world, many people make their living on a computer pecking away at a keyboard.

When you think about it, evolutionarily the small muscles of the forearm were not meant to do these fine movements all day, every day.  There are some muscles in the hand but the majority of the movements of the fingers are controlled by muscles in the forearm which connect with long tendons that cross the wrist.

And as a result, the forearms become strained and inflamed which can feel painful and may even make you feel weak.

So, one option would be to stop using a keyboard, right?

Well, obviously you can’t do that.

Another option would be to see a massage therapist every week just for your forearms.

That might be difficult to make work.

At home, you can do some work on the forearm muscles that will help a tonne.

Take your first two fingers of one hand and put them on the muscles near the elbow on the other arm.

If you poke around with those fingers, you’ll find some areas that are tender.  Dig into those muscles somewhat in order to break up the damaged and strained muscle tissue.  This will encourage your body to repair those muscles.

After doing this on one arm, switch and do the other side.

Then ice the forearms for a couple of minutes.

Do this home procedure every day for a couple of weeks and you should see a marked improvement.

If you don’t, you may have a bigger problem that involves the nerves that come from the neck and go to the arms and hands.  In that case, schedule an appointment at our office with the link below and we’ll help you.

As always with love,

Dr. Colin
