If You’re Always Tired, You Need to Read This.
Does this sound familiar:
· It doesn’t matter how early you go to bed, you’re still pretty tired the next day?
· You don’t wake up refreshed anymore.
· Your low energy is interfering with a bunch of other stuff like family time and exercise because you just don’t feel like you’ve got the energy.
In my over 25 years of practice, I’ve learned that over 90% of low energy problems are due to one of two causative factors (and sometimes both).
Number one is diet. Number two is a problem with the nervous system.
Diet: As detailed in his book “Wheat Belly”, William Davis, MD has found that a diet containing even moderate amounts of “bready looking stuff” will wreak havoc with your hormonal profile which will in turn wreak havoc with your energy levels.
Through a cascading series of stimulus-response actions in your body, when you eat bread, bagel, pizza, muffin, donut, sandwich, pita, wrap and any of a number of bread-based meals, you experience a drop in energy several hours after that meal.
Don’t think this is the problem for you? Easy way to find out is to cut all “bready” type stuff from your diet for 7-10 days. Eat more raw, fresh fruits and vegetables. Eat the meat portion of what you would have normally eaten. And cut all sugary stuff out too.
After 7-10 days, if you don’t see a market increase in your sleep quality and quantity, then consider cause number two.
Nervous system: What role does your brain play in healing?
What? You’ve never considered that question?
OK, well, let’s say your blood pressure needs to go up just a tiny little bit because you’re lifting a heavy object.
Who is responsible for making that happen?
Largely, it’s your brain, which was watching your blood pressure and ensuring it stays within a very narrow acceptable range ALL THE TIME. Yes, there are other mechanisms, but they are all secondary to the role the brain plays.
Now substitute “blood pressure” in the above scenario with some other body variable – blood pH, tone of ______ muscle, blood flow to ________ organ, amount of acid secreted by your stomach, how open the tubes of the lungs are, and on and on and on.
Health is defined as “the state when all of the functions of the body and mind are optimally active”.
Your brain and nervous system control all function in your body. And as a result, you can only be as healthy as your nervous system. Even if you’re incredibly fit and eat an incredibly clean diet and… You can only be as healthy as your nervous system.
The hard part is understanding your nervous system goes bad and how to get it good again. That is best done during a face-to-face conversation.
